Work Experience
The photo above was taken at a conference I helped coordinate while employed at the MDI Biological Laboratory. The conference, the 2015 Northeast Regional IDeA Conference, was held at the Bar Harbor Club from September 24-26, 2015. It brought together over 300 scientists, students, and administrators from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Delaware to share successes in biomedical science research and training and to learn about current NIH areas of focus.
The photo to the left was taken during a real estate closing at Bar Harbor Savings & Loan when I worked as a Program Associate at Island Housing Trust. Island Housing Trust promotes viable, year-round island communities by advancing permanent workforce housing on Mount Desert Island, Maine. While there, I gained valuable insight into the challenge of balancing tourism—our economy's backbone—with the preservation of a year-round community.
My work history highlights:
Introduction:
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and photography from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, in 1995, I completed an internship with an animator and began a career in film and entertainment, working in both NYC and Atlanta. After several years, I transitioned into a role as a training coordinator and executive assistant at an accounting firm in Atlanta, where I spent seven years gaining valuable insight into business and finance. Since returning to Maine in 2006, I have focused my career on the non-profit sector. With nearly twenty years of experience in non-profits, I have worked in higher education, scientific research, and housing. My expertise includes fundraising, event coordination, data analysis, and operations.
